Our Inspiration

Naples is a city in Southern Italy, nestled along the banks of the Bay of Naples. It is one of the most historic and well known cities in Italy for many reasons, and has served as a major inspiration for our unique cuisine and culture here at In Riva.

One of the most notable aspects of Naples is its incredible views. Situated alongside the Bay of Naples, the beauty outside most people’s backyards in this city is simply breathtaking. Adding to its scenic views is the iconic presence of the still-active volcano, Mount Vesuvius, most widely known for destroying the nearby town of Pompeii.

Perhaps what Naples is most famous for is being the birthplace of one of the world’s most popular foods — pizza. Napoletana style pizza is currently enjoyed all over the world, with its roots beginning in 18th century Naples. Napoletana, or Neapolitan style pizza is identified by its signature crust — soft and elastic, but with slightly charred, crisp edges. This is the style of pizza that initially inspired our culinary journey, and is a staple in our world here at In Riva.

Inspired by this historic city, we have built ourselves our own little version of Naples right here in East Falls. Set along the banks of the Schuylkill River, we get our own iconic views to enjoy while eating the traditional style of Napoletana pizza.
